Forty young women in Kinshasa received training in advocacy, waste management, facilitation and participation through the second phase of a youth leadership project, project manager Narcisse Ngoza told the Congolese Press Agency. The trained leaders are expected to carry out awareness work in schools and social centres.

Ngoza said the project also conducted a perception survey with 668 respondents: 250 households and 418 market administrators and vendors. The findings are intended to help identify existing practices, difficulties and possible actions on waste management. The European Union funds the project, which is implemented by the Young Women’s Christian Association; the report does not say the survey represents all Kinshasa residents.
