Copper Road Resources signed an early exploration agreement with Matachewan First Nation covering the Ben Nevis Volcanic Complex project in Ontario’s Abitibi belt. The company said the current project package covers 226 mining claim cells and an operational area of 11,264 hectares.
The agreement sets out how consultation and impact mitigation will work during exploration and provides for company shares and options, contracts, jobs and training opportunities. The First Nation is to provide a support letter for the planned maiden drill program to Ontario’s mines ministry; that letter is not a permit or drilling approval. The agreement remains in effect until a broader Impact Benefit Agreement is concluded.
