The funding is to support construction and fitting-out of a building linked to an existing greenhouse, allowing harvest processing and workshops on growing fresh food. The project also includes food-preservation equipment. The release describes planned improvements rather than a completed new facility or a measured increase in harvests.

The contribution comes through the Northern Isolated Community Initiatives Fund, which supports food initiatives and economic diversification in northern communities. The agency identifies climate, transport and infrastructure constraints as challenges for food security. It does not give a construction completion date or a quantified production target for the Kuujjuaq project.
