Statistics Canada reported on October 13 that the national total Electric Power Selling Price Index was 136.1 in August 2026, down from 137.4 in July. The monthly series, with a 2014=100 base, measures price changes in electricity sold by distributors to commercial and industrial users.

In August, the index was 140.6 for users consuming at least 5,000 kilowatts and 135.0 for the under-5,000-kilowatt group. The series is not seasonally adjusted, and Statistics Canada says data for the previous 12 months may be revised with each release. It is a selling-price index, not a household bill measure or a spot electricity quote.
