Brazil signs agreement to expand immunoglobulin supplies

The Hemobrás–Tiantan Bio cooperation covers supply of the plasma-derived medicine and prospective technology transfer.

Brazil’s Health Ministry said Hemobrás and China’s Tiantan Bio signed a cooperation agreement in São Paulo on October 2 to broaden immunoglobulin supply sources. The ministry said the agreement sets a framework for registration in Brazil, supply of intravenous human immunoglobulin, and technology licensing and transfer.

Supply and technology details will be defined in separate agreements and remain subject to Anvisa requirements. The ministry also said equipment upgrades are expected to raise plasma-storage capacity by about 30%, 604 pieces of equipment were distributed to 125 hemotherapy services, and 38 million reais was allocated to improve blood-center services.
