Brazil’s Ministry of Mines and Energy opened a public consultation on 13 October covering two draft rules for the development of computational models used in the electricity sector. Submissions may be made through the ministry’s consultation portal for 20 days.

The models support generation-expansion planning, calculation of plants’ physical guarantees, system operations and short-term market pricing. The drafts propose different review paths based on the impact of a change, coordination among institutions and open technology governance; they are proposals, not final rules.
