Work has begun to complete the new green space on the Via Cavazzoni side of Domenico Acerbi garden. The area follows demolition of the former Cavazzoni nursery and construction of its replacement, which opened in December 2025. Bologna says crews will prepare the ground and add natural soil before planting five hackberries, five ginkgo trees, five flowering pear trees and ten red maples.
The planting and irrigation work will be accompanied by installation of benches. The new area will remain fenced off while the grass and trees establish. The city expects construction to finish in early November and the park section to reopen in February 2027. Improvements to the existing park’s play area and walls are also due to finish by the reopening.
