BHP Group produced 400.7 thousand tonnes of copper in the first quarter of its 2026/27 financial year, ended 30 September, down 19% from a year earlier. The company cited lower planned concentrator feed grades, maintenance, severe weather in Chile, safety stoppages and a conveyor failure at Carrapateena among the factors.

Iron ore production rose 4% year over year to 66.5 million tonnes, and BHP reported quarterly records at WAIO’s mine and port. The company kept its FY27 copper guidance at 1.65–1.80 million tonnes. The report covers BHP’s global operations, not Australia alone.
