Aterian secures four-year extension for Rwanda exploration licence

Rwanda’s Mines, Petroleum and Gas Board approved a four-year extension of Aterian’s exploration licence for the Kinunga (HCK) project in southern Rwanda. The company said the renewal supports assessment of tantalum-niobium in weathered pegmatites alongside continued lithium exploration in fresh rock.

Aterian said initial metallurgical tests are under way to assess tantalum recovery from fine material and concentrate quality. Results are intended to inform a potential wash-plant design and any later bulk sampling or pilot processing; no commercial production decision or timetable has been announced.
