Arvind Limited said Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated its new garment-manufacturing facility in Varanasi on 25 October. In a media release filed with the National Stock Exchange the same day, the textile company called it its first manufacturing unit in Uttar Pradesh. The plant is intended to make knitwear and adds a garment-production stage to the company’s existing fabric operations.

Arvind reported an approximate investment of ₹150 crore. The facility occupies 5.5 acres and has about 65,000 square feet of built-up area. The company gave the plant a revenue potential of ₹250 crore, but did not specify a time period, expected output volume or ramp-up schedule for that figure. The investment, area and revenue potential are company-reported figures, not independently audited project accounts.

The plant is equipped with automated sewing technology and is designed to make essential knitwear products. Arvind said the unit will forward-integrate fabric it manufactures in-house, which it expects to expand its offering to existing customers. The release frames the project as a way to add garment capacity and strengthen the company’s vertical integration; it does not disclose customer orders or a production target.

The company expects the facility to employ more than 1,000 people, predominantly women. It said dedicated worker hostels have been established and that it plans to expand residential infrastructure as operations grow. Those are expected jobs rather than a current headcount; the release does not set a hiring timetable or provide a breakdown by role.

Arvind said the project could also generate secondary activity in local supply chains, logistics and services, but it did not quantify those indirect effects. The release presents the factory as part of its manufacturing strategy and as a contribution to the Varanasi and Uttar Pradesh economy. Its published figures describe planned potential and facility scale; they do not show realised revenue, current employment or completed production volumes.
