Agropur Cooperative and Sollio Agriculture announced on October 15 a joint investment of more than C$3 million for a five-year effort to reduce on-farm greenhouse-gas emissions in Quebec. The programme will involve 50 dairy farmers who belong to Agropur and are also part of Sollio’s cooperative network, running from 2027 through 2031.
Participants will complete annual carbon assessments to identify farm emission sources and track results, then may adopt tailored measures for reducing emissions or increasing sequestration. Agropur says financial incentives can reach C$16,000 per participant. The announcement sets no quantified overall emissions-reduction target and reports no reductions already achieved.
