AfDB held a trade-finance breakfast in Kigali on 5 October with nearly all commercial banks. It said Africa’s trade-finance gap in 2024 was estimated at US$74–92 billion, limiting businesses’ ability to trade, grow and reach new markets.

AfDB’s programme includes credit lines, transaction guarantees, risk-participation agreements and agricultural-commodity finance. The Kigali meeting covered information on these instruments and potential cooperation; the release does not announce a new loan or guarantee agreement.
