IWC11, the Global Environment Facility’s 11th biennial International Waters Conference, took place in Bali on 17–22 October. AfDB joined GEF IW:LEARN and development banks for a 17 October pre-conference session on sustainable public and private finance, blended finance and multilateral development bank funding.

The session examined barriers to bankable fisheries and aquaculture projects; participants developed investor proposals and briefing notes for finance ministries. AfDB also discussed embedding marine-governance programmes in permanent institutions and post-project financing; the report does not announce a funding commitment.
