Abu Dhabi’s Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) announced on 11 October a planned upgrade covering about 13 kilometres along E30 and 8th Street in Mussafah. The project is intended to improve traffic flow, safety and journey times on routes linking the industrial area with Mohamed Bin Zayed City and Zayed City.

The plan includes a free-flowing highway on 8th Street with three lanes in each direction, alongside lanes for local access. DMT said the road is expected to accommodate about 4,000 vehicles per hour. Other planned works cover four interchanges on E30 and nine key junctions, as well as two bridges between Mussafah and Mohamed Bin Zayed City and a separate pedestrian bridge.
