New South Wales Health said on October 12 that construction has finished on the Warrawong Community Health Centre, built on the former Port Kembla Hospital site. The centre is planned to bring child and family health, community nursing, mental health, sexual health and substance-use services together for Illawarra residents.

The department said final fit-out, testing, commissioning and operational readiness work is continuing, with the centre expected to open to patients, staff and the community in the coming weeks. The announcement therefore marks construction completion, not the start of services. The release lists the centre as part of the New Shellharbour Hospital and Integrated Services Project, with a reported budget of $828.9 million.
