The US Department of Agriculture announced October 9 amendments to the federal marketing order for raisins produced from grapes grown in California. The Raisin Administrative Committee will shrink from 47 members to 21; producer-district representation will be removed, a seat for a non-affiliated producer added, and the quorum lowered from 25 to 14.

The amendments also end separate nominations for independent producers, revise factors used to set marketing policy and clarify quality rules for reconditioned raisins. They add authority for voluntary contributions and trademark use. USDA said producers supported the changes in a 2025 referendum and that it will separately seek nominees for the committee seats.
