The UAE Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA) said on 18 October that it would hold the 6G MENA 2026 conference in Abu Dhabi on 19 and 20 October. The authority described it as the first dedicated 6G conference in the Middle East and North Africa.

TDRA said discussions focused on preparations for 6G and artificial intelligence’s role in designing and operating future telecommunications networks. The programme covered AI-native networks, spectrum, integration of terrestrial and non-terrestrial networks, and preparations for the 2027 World Radiocommunication Conference. The release describes preparation and standards work; it does not say that 6G service has been launched.
