The preliminary plebiscite count was 2,687 “yes” votes and 1,813 “no” votes. The District stressed that the question was non-binding and would inform Council’s future consideration; the result does not authorize borrowing, approve construction or commit District-owned land.

The same preliminary results put Kevin Pearson ahead in the mayoral contest with 3,140 votes to Al Beddows’ 2,307. The Chief Election Officer is to declare the official results, so both the election and plebiscite figures remain preliminary at this stage.
