Singapore’s Ministry of Health announced on 2 October that the nine-valent HPV vaccine, HPV9, will be added to the National Childhood Immunisation Schedule, National Adult Immunisation Schedule and Subsidised Vaccine List from 1 January 2027. The change covers eligible Singaporean and permanent-resident females aged 9–26; HPV2 will remain as an alternative. The ministry says HPV16 and HPV18 are associated with about 70% of cervical cancers, while additional types covered by HPV9 account for a further 20%, bringing the combined type coverage to about 90%.
The announcement recommends two doses for unvaccinated females who start at ages 9–14 and three doses for those who start at ages 15–26; an incomplete course may be finished after age 26 and up to age 45. Some secondary-school students who began with HPV2 in 2026 will receive HPV9 as their second dose in 2027. Type coverage is not a measure of vaccine efficacy or an individual’s probability of protection; additional HPV9 doses are not recommended for people who have completed a recommended course.

Methodology
The release’s 70% and further 20% figures are source estimates of the shares of cervical cancers associated with HPV types; they are not clinical vaccine efficacy or individual protection rates. The approximately 90% total describes the type coverage stated by the source. Dose counts are programme recommendations for unvaccinated females starting at the stated ages; prior vaccination and individual clinical circumstances require medical advice.
