Saudi Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman said recent regional developments showed that energy security could not be taken for granted. Qatar News Agency reported his remarks at the opening of the 25th World Petroleum Congress in Riyadh on October 12.

He said energy-system resilience should be measured not only by spare production capacity, pipelines or power generation, but also by the ability to maintain and repair infrastructure, reroute supplies, find alternatives and continue deliveries under pressure. The speech did not disclose a specific Saudi capacity or supply volume.
