Textile and sportswear exporters told Pakistan’s maritime minister on 1 October that changing shipping routes had lengthened delivery times and raised costs to European and US markets. The Pakistan National Shipping Corporation also joined the meeting.

The minister said PNSC could consider leasing or buying a container vessel if exporters could provide enough cargo volume. A working group of ministry, PNSC and exporter representatives will assess feasibility and other ways to improve connectivity; no vessel purchase or lease was announced.
