Nigeria expanded HIV-prevention training to strengthen health workers’ capacity to provide pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP).

A six-day training-of-trainers course in May 2026 brought together 80 health workers from 32 Nigerian states and the Federal Capital Territory. Follow-up training reached 90 workers in Benue, 118 in Taraba and 26 in Ekiti.

The source also gives a global estimate of about 41 million people living with HIV in 2025, including 53% women and girls. That global figure is context and is not a count of Nigeria’s trainees or programme results.
