The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) is advancing construction of a 330 kV transmission line from Kano to Katsina and a new substation near Katsina Steel Rolling Company, its managing director Sule Abdulaziz told Voice of Nigeria. Major transformers and other required substation equipment had been delivered and stored at the site pending installation.

Abdulaziz also described a separate Katsina–Malumfashi project via Kurfi, Dutsin-ma and Kankara, with substations being developed along the route. He said a major transformer had been installed and connected at Kankia, while Mashi land had been secured and construction awaited completion of compensation payments. The report gives no overall completion date or indication that these projects are already energised.
