MTN Ghana discloses about $202 million in spectrum licence fees

MTN Ghana disclosed licence fees of US$100.9 million for 700 MHz spectrum and US$101.1 million for the 3 GHz band awarded by Ghana’s communications regulator.

An October 2 stock-exchange disclosure by MTN Group said its Ghanaian subsidiary Scancom would pay US$100.9 million for 2×20 MHz in the 700 MHz band and US$101.1 million for 150 MHz in the 3 GHz band. The licences run for 15 years.

The notice said two of three available lots were awarded in the 700 MHz band, while all three lots were awarded in the 3 GHz band. The fees total US$202 million across the two bands. They are regulatory licence fees disclosed by the company.
