Transport Minister Mahomed Osman Cassam Mahomed announced on 16 October, after inspections at Barkly and Beau-Bassin stations, that Metro Express would resume in phases over the weekend. After a four-day suspension, trains were scheduled to run from 07:00 to 17:00 on Saturday and Sunday, with normal 06:00–19:00 hours returning across the network on Monday.

The minister estimated combined infrastructure damage and lost revenue at about MUR 51 million and said the service carried approximately 35,000 passengers daily. Special operating arrangements were planned at Vandermeersch, Coromandel and Barkly. The statement attributed the disruption to infrastructure damage and vandalism during recent civil unrest.
