Madrid to add 596 public residential care places for older people
The Madrid region plans to add 596 residential care places for older people with dependency needs to its public network between November 2026 and June 2028. Twelve contracts covering 431 places were authorized this week as part of a programme budgeted at about €25 million.

The Madrid regional government says 596 residential places for older people with dependency needs will join the public network between 1 November and 30 June 2028. The planned budget is close to €25 million.
The regional cabinet authorized 12 contracts this week for 431 places, at more than €18.4 million. The remaining 165 places account for more than €6.4 million and do not require the same authorization step. The framework requires centers to develop measures to prevent, detect and respond to loneliness and to record residents’ food, cultural and leisure preferences.
