Jordan’s cabinet approved on October 11 a 400 million Jordanian dinar sukuk issue by the Greater Amman Municipality, using a lease-to-own structure. The planned instrument carries an annual return of 5.5% and an initial five-year term. It has not yet been issued.

The municipality projects financing-cost savings of about 70 million dinars over the first five years. If the term is extended by another five years, the same assumptions imply potential savings of 140 million dinars in total. The Central Bank of Jordan will manage the issue; a prospectus and final terms are still expected.
