Italy seeks an industrial solution for StarTech's Trieste site
Industry Minister Adolfo Urso described extraordinary administration as the only route to identify a suitable industrial partner after meeting StarTech unions on 10 October.

Italy's Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy (MIMIT) said Minister Adolfo Urso met trade union representatives for StarTech in Trieste on 10 October, alongside Friuli-Venezia Giulia regional president Massimiliano Fedriga. The ministry said the discussion concerned the future of the company, which researches, develops and makes electronic components and equipment for telecommunications.
Urso said a transfer project announced by the company in September 2025 had not been implemented and that the company had not supplied all the information requested. He called extraordinary administration the only way to identify an industrial operator suited to the company's future; MIMIT said it and the region were assessing options to protect productive assets and workers. The earlier project had envisaged restarting the site and adding photonics, space and defence activities; the ministry's statement did not say a new buyer or rescue plan had been secured.
