IllustrationStatistics Indonesia reported August 2026 merchandise exports of US$26.6122 billion, up 6.72% from a year earlier. Imports were US$23.06 billion, 19.09% higher year on year. These customs-based figures cover goods, not the full balance of services.
For January through August, exports reached US$193.64 billion and imports US$186.39 billion, leaving a reported trade surplus of US$7.25 billion. The aggregate surplus comprised US$28.54 billion in non-oil-and-gas surplus and a US$21.29 billion oil-and-gas deficit; those components show why the headline balance alone does not describe every trade segment.
