India’s labour ministry reported on 29 October that two settlements at UltraTech in Bathinda were expected to provide approximately 33.6 million rupees in financial benefits to 217 workers over five years. The agreements were signed on 14 October 2026, following conciliation by the Assistant Labour Commissioner in Jalandhar.
The settlements were concluded with the Centre of Indian Trade Unions and the All India Trade Union Congress. Benefits are to apply retrospectively from the year’s second quarter, subject to each agreement’s terms. The announcement describes negotiated arrangements, rather than a new nationwide wage rule.
The ministry does not provide a worker-by-worker payment schedule or identify an equal amount for every employee. The aggregate expected benefit should therefore not be presented as cash already paid or divided into an invented individual entitlement.
