Published: · Updated:

Hugging Face introduced Llama Windows on October 13, an app that runs from the Windows 11 notification area. Users can download recommended quantized model builds from the Hugging Face Hub in one click and load them in a local llama.cpp server. The app can connect to an existing server or start the installation it manages; the announcement says administrator rights are not required.
Hugging Face says the app launches with support for Windows on Arm and NVIDIA RTX Spark, and that its local server offers an OpenAI-compatible API at localhost:9931. The company says activity through the app stays on the device rather than being saved elsewhere. The software is free and open source; the announcement does not provide an independent performance evaluation.
