The announcement was made on 15 October. Construction at the city-centre brownfield site is expected to begin in early 2027, with completion planned for spring 2029. These are projected dates.

The government estimated the Derby development could add £151 million to the regional economy. The apprenticeship scheme is aimed at people aged 16 to 21; the announcement does not say that the planned jobs or places have already been filled.
