Destatis’ provisional data show that Germany’s real manufacturing order backlog rose 0.5% in August 2026 from July after calendar and seasonal adjustment.
Event / data period: 2026-08
Published: · Updated:

The calendar-adjusted backlog was 10.7% higher than a year earlier. Monthly increases in machinery, other transport equipment, and computers and electronics supported the total, while a 0.4% decline in motor vehicles weighed on it.
The order backlog range stayed at 9.0 months. Destatis defines this range as the theoretical time needed to fill outstanding orders if turnover remains constant and no new orders arrive, using the latest 12-month average turnover.
