Germany’s gross domestic product increased 0.2% in the third quarter of 2026 from the preceding quarter after price, seasonal and calendar adjustment, Destatis reported on 30 October. The economy had grown 0.4% in the first quarter and 0.3% in the second.

Consumption expenditure increased slightly during the quarter, while investment declined, according to the preliminary findings. The strong export growth seen in the first half of the year slowed markedly. Destatis did not give numerical growth rates for these components in this first release.
GDP was 1.3% higher than a year earlier after price adjustment alone and 1.2% higher after both price and calendar adjustment. These annual comparisons differ from the adjusted quarterly increase and should not be interchanged. Detailed third-quarter results are scheduled for 25 November; the figures released now remain preliminary.
