Clark Atlanta University (CAU) announced AIHUB@CAU on 15 October, a collaboration with Georgia Tech’s NSF AI Institute for Advances in Optimization (AI4OPT). The initiative has a $2.79 million NSF grant through the ExpandAI program to strengthen CAU’s capacity in AI education, research and workforce development.

The effort brings together faculty in mathematical sciences, cyber-physical systems and business administration. CAU has undergraduate AI minors and master’s-level AI programs; work to integrate AI into doctoral offerings is still being developed. Georgia Tech’s partnership is intended to provide faculty development in data science, AI and optimization and create links to joint research.

AI4OPT develops methods combining AI and mathematical optimization for large-scale decision-making in areas such as energy, logistics, supply chains and manufacturing. The collaboration is meant to expand CAU’s education and research capacity; the announcement reports no measured student outcomes or completed new academic programs yet.
