Galicia’s environmental department is gathering input for its future Food Waste Prevention and Management Plan, known as PREXERA. The regional director for environmental quality and sustainability held meetings with representatives of food distribution and households.

The distribution meeting covered surplus prevention, stock planning, donation and redistribution, while the household meeting addressed shopping and food use. The Xunta says it is carrying out a total of 1,800 surveys with the Galician Institute of Statistics among households, distribution and restaurant sectors. These are not presented as completed survey results.
