Agreste, the French agriculture ministry’s statistics service, said purchase prices for inputs used in farming rose 1.7% in August 2026 from July. The monthly increase matched July’s rate, while the year-on-year rise accelerated to 10%.

Agreste attributed the increase mainly to the summer jump in energy prices, especially fuels. Fertilizer prices stabilized at historically high levels, while raw materials used for animal feed rose sharply during the month; the release linked that movement to weather-damaged production. The figures track agricultural input purchases, not general consumer inflation.
