The U.S. Energy Information Administration’s October Short-Term Energy Outlook forecasts Brent crude oil at an average of $96 a barrel in 2026 and $84 in 2027. The October 6 report raised those projections from $91 and $74 in its September outlook, respectively, as it expected continued constraints on Middle East oil flows and stronger price pressure from tight diesel markets.

EIA said its model inputs were finalized on October 1, so the forecast does not account for market events after that date, including any additional petroleum placed on the market following the G7 announcement on October 2. The prices are agency forecasts, not observed future outcomes.
