Egypt and Somali leaders discuss Horn of Africa coordination

President Sisi met Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and reaffirmed Egypt’s support for Somalia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. They discussed coordination on developments in the Horn of Africa and Red Sea region.

The meeting took place on October 3 in New Alamein on the sidelines of the Alamein–Africa Business Forum. Egypt’s account said the countries elevated ties to a comprehensive strategic partnership in January 2025.

Sisi and Mohamud stressed continued consultation among Egypt, Somalia and regional states on security in the Horn of Africa, Gulf of Aden, Bab el-Mandeb Strait and Red Sea. The account announced no new agreement or operation.
