The Democratic Republic of the Congo launched an October campaign for breast and cervical cancer screening, Health Minister Roger Samuel Kamba said in Kinshasa. He said 912,000 women in six provinces could benefit from cervical cancer screening, with support from the World Bank and Roche.
The programme is set to continue through 2028. In Kinshasa, 5,000 women are eligible for free breast cancer screening at partner public and private hospitals. The minister said the October 1–31 campaign is intended to encourage women to seek screening; the announced figures are planned reach, not completed examinations.
