Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) published water-security technologies and targets on the opening day of WETEX. It said the Hassyan seawater reverse-osmosis plant has a planned production capacity of 180 million imperial gallons a day.

DEWA also reported that water transmission and distribution losses declined from 42.5% in 1989 to 4.4% in 2025. It aims to produce all its desalinated water using a combination of clean energy and waste heat by 2030.
