Central Kootenay preliminary regional election results show contests across eight areas

The Regional District of Central Kootenay posted unofficial results from the October 17 general local election in eight electoral areas. Leading candidates included Forrest Demman in Area A with 270 votes to Garry Jackman’s 265, and Landon Veregin in Area E with 558 to Erin Fitchett’s 542.

In Area B, Danny Turner led Roger Tierney 488 to 259; in C, Mike Martell led Kelly Vandenberghe 213 to 125. Anna Bundschuh led in G with 282, Will Parker in H with 794, Gordon Zaitsoff in J with 348, and Teresa Weatherhead in K with 435.

Reported turnout ranged from 18% to 31% across the areas. The district called the results unofficial and said official results would be reported by 4 p.m. on October 21.
