Statistics Canada’s August mineral-production tables, released October 20, reported 41,659.687 tonnes of recoverable copper and 27,352.836 tonnes of refined copper in Canada. Recoverable cobalt was 537.768 tonnes. The figures are converted from the table’s kilogram values by dividing by 1,000.

These are distinct product measures and production stages; they should not be added together as total copper or metal output. The Monthly Mineral Production Survey estimates production, shipments and inventories for leading minerals, while the accompanying smelter and refinery survey covers selected base metals. The data are not seasonally adjusted, and the previous two months may be revised.
