The centre is intended to develop digital tools to track fibre supply, which is exposed to risks such as wildfire and pests, and match it with manufacturers’ needs. The government says the forest sector supports nearly 200,000 jobs and contributed C$23.5 billion to GDP in 2024. The announcement concerns a proposed centre; it does not report a completed facility or realised job outcomes.
