Click Petróleo e Gás reported on 10 October that the Merchant Marine Fund (FMM) council gave financing priority to 26 port and maritime projects worth R$8.3 billion at its 8 October meeting. The Ministry of Ports and Airports’ 9 October release confirms the total, project count and meeting date. The ministry says the projects span nine states and have potential for 6,530 direct jobs.

The decision does not mean loans have been disbursed. Financing priority is subject to applicants meeting financial institutions’ reviews and contractual conditions; the ministry does not say that agreements or payments are complete. One highlighted proposal is the R$1.9 billion Mar Azul terminal for handling fertilizer and steel. The jobs figure is a projected number of direct positions, not employment already realized.
