The Biodiversa+ partnership launched its BiodivFuture research call on 9 September to study “novel ecosystems”: ecosystems that differ from an area’s historical conditions, often because of human influence, and are unlikely to return to those conditions. The call has a total budget of about €40 million.

The call covers ecosystem functioning, pathways to novel ecosystems, and fair sharing of biodiversity benefits. Eligible proposals must come from transnational consortia with partners from at least three countries participating financially in the call, including at least two EU member or associated countries.
