Bayelsa’s Ministry of Trade, Industry and Investment held its 2026 SME Conference with Wider Perspectives in Yenagoa on 6 October. The state government called for greater use of locally available raw materials and stronger support for small and medium-sized enterprises to encourage industrial growth and jobs.

The trade commissioner said the ministry had worked with the manufacturers’ association on advocacy and training, the corporate affairs commission on formalising businesses, and the Bank of Industry on access to small-business loans. Through the state export-promotion committee, the ministry is working with RMRDC, NEPC and other agencies to support SMEs with export potential.
