The bell at the Alhambra’s Torre de la Vela rang on October 18 as part of Réquiem por Lorca, marking 90 years since Federico García Lorca’s killing. Andalusia’s government said the Alhambra and Generalife administration joined the García Lorca Foundation’s artistic initiative across Granada.
The bell rang for three minutes at 12:00 local time and sounded again at 12:30 in sequences of three strokes every eight seconds. The programme also involved the Plaza de los Aljibes and Silla del Moro within the Alhambra and incorporated Enrique Morente’s composition Campanas por el poeta.
