CEA’nın Manyetik Hapsolmalı Füzyon Araştırma Enstitüsü (IRFM), 9 Ekim’de WEST tokamak tesisinin elektron siklotron rezonans ısıtma sisteminin ilk gyrotronla plazmada çalıştığını duyurdu. Enstitü, sistemin 105 GHz’de toplam 3 MW mikrodalga gücü enjekte etmeye yönelik bir basamak olduğunu belirtti.

IRFM’ye göre test kampanyası 800 kW gücü bir saniye boyunca uygulayan atışlara ulaştı. İkinci gyrotron platforma kuruldu ancak henüz yeterlilik aşamasında; 3 MW değeri mevcut çıktı değil, iki cihazın geliştirilmesiyle ulaşılması amaçlanan hedeftir.
