Four 10-kW turbines would provide 40 kW of installed capacity along an irrigation canal operated by the Arvin-Edison Water Storage District near Bakersfield, California. FERC staff preliminarily found that the project would not change the canal’s primary agricultural water-delivery purpose and meets the qualifying conduit hydropower criteria. That preliminary finding means the project would not require a licence or exemption from licensing.
